Souvent Me Souviens, 2017
Installation completed in Ste. Flavie in 2017 as an extra-mural destination at the Metis Garden Festival, Quebec. It remained in situ for 5 years.
These painted sheds were also used in another piece, 'Every Garden Needs a Shed' on the festival site in the Reford Gardens. The site was selected by the village council after winter storms and flooding od the St Lawrence Seaway destroyed housing here. It was de-zoned for residential use and gifted to the Reford Gardens. The installation consisted of a zig-zaged boardwalk that cris-crossed the floodline and riprap boulder barrier. At each corner we placed a shed, six in total, enabling visitors to move in and out of the flood zone from shed to shed. Each shed contained artefacts, or was coloured and decoratedd to honour those families who lost their homes, to recognise the risk of flooding and the power of the river.
